Have you tried tilting engine forward- by releasing upper dogbone engine mounts and reattaching to engine tilt holes? This gives you enough room to get in behind engine. That's the way I would do it- as designed for it.

The engine is designed to rotate?

For the chevy 3.1L engine- step number two in All Data says to rotate engine- so yes, it rotates. Did grandma have a 3.8L? supercharged?

Re: How do I replace rear spark plugs on a 1994 Buick Regal
Yes, you can rotate either the 3.1/3.4 or 3.8......
Remove the two upper dog bones in the front, make sure e-brake is applied, have tranny in neutral(rotates easier)..... You can physically rotate the engine forward, and wedge a block of wood in a convenient area of the back against the firewall, to keep it forward..... As for removing the plugs, sometimes it's hard to remove the wires........need to break them free by rotating the boot in both directions, before pulling......damage can be done to the wires during removal, so if old, just replace them..... As for the plugs, a double swivel(basically, a "ball" universal, mounted on another one) with a spark plug socket and extension, gets in there easily....the double swivel lets you get in at any angle, as opposed to a single universal..... |

I've never wedged the wood behind engine- heck the dogbones have the "rotated forward" holes in them. Just stick the mounting bolt you took out of the dogbone in one or both of those- as designed.

Re: How do I replace rear spark plugs on a 1994 Buick Regal
Yes you can do that......lot easier just putting a block of wood(I use 4x4 blocks that I use to block wheels) than lining up that hole......for the guys who have every tool ever made, there is a tool that mounts in place of one of the dog bones, and has a bolt you turn that pulls the engine forward......
