Some people may have seen this on another site as im building for comp on Scale Plastic cars (http://www.spc.org.uk) stand no chance of wining but thats not the point. The plan is for a 996 with a Moto GP front end, Moto GP wheels, Moto GP shock and a race fairing.....
And a carbon frame like this one but not the engine colours like in the pics. The parts Both Kits 916 Parts Desmo Parts Forks Paint Carbon Decals And my 1:1 Also being modded with a MV single seat unit

Re: Ducati 916/996 MotoGP Rep
Thought it would be easier to use the old frame as a base rather than try and build the carbon rep from scratch.
Left side boxed and first layer of filler Right side barley started Right side being boxed in Slight problem with the frame the micro sol attack the filler. not to bad some small holes but not that noticeable and not worth striping the carbon and heat proofing off.

Re: Ducati 916/996 MotoGP Rep
Some more.
Im some way into the project but rather than bang it all up at once I thought I would post it in stages. Lots of clean up needed and tidying still needs doing And on the bike (using a old scrap motor but in the frame) Moved to the fairing as a bit of a change. Start of the mod work for the later 998 style fairing

Re: Ducati 916/996 MotoGP Rep
Great work! Interesting project!
What did you do with the rear rimb? Looks like you have moved the spokes out a bit and somehow made it a bit convex...tell me more! /Joel

Re: Ducati 916/996 MotoGP Rep
Nice work so far! I love your idea and i think its really wonderful to see such a progress here. Everything is looking good but maybe i guess the only thing is that the fairing isnt perfect because of a few bumps as i can see from the pics. Nevertheless, it really looks great! I hope to see more soon!

Re: Ducati 916/996 MotoGP Rep
Time for a small update. Had ago at dechromeing for the first time
Before During And after. All with Mr Muscle spray cleaner Right side fairing Nose cone being turned into a race version Also after looking at the frame and not being happy with it...... Before with the test engine After The rear wheel now in its full glory. Frame V2.0 I have changed from Crazy modelers CF to some Scalemotorsports Hi-Def CF. I think it looks closer to the full size frame. There is still some detail work that needs doing. With the seat unit on And the other fairing panel just to see how it looks. They still needs a polish.

I cut the plastic centers on both side back to the midlle with my dremel then put a screw with a amout of bolts and washer on to set the the correct hight the used a heat cut to soften the plastic. (If that makes sense) You should see the spare dry run wheel

Re: Ducati 916/996 MotoGP Rep
Disaster….
Then memory card I was using for the WIP and track day died gone are my onboard shots from Cadwell and my progress pics. Lesson learnt is DON’T buy cheapish cards from ebay. Anyway lots of work done all updates lost time jump to now. The homebuilt bellypan. I was going to use the same hi-def carbon but thought I would use some different patterns to spice it up and add a little contrast. Its only blu tacked on at the moment. The same pattern used on heel plates Some studio 27 used for the chain guard A mix of the two used for the addapted electronics box/dash and the airtubes. Still need to do a caot of black inside the nose cowl yet.
