Oil Change Frequency
Does any one know how often should you have oil changes done on a Solara? I've heard some say 6000km and some say 8000km, just not certain~ any answers greatly appreciated!! thanks~

Re: Oil Change Frequency
I would say 5000 km if you use dino oil and 10000 km if you use a quality synthetic.
If you are really hard on oil (like always only driving a short distance where the oil doesn't have a chance to warm up, then halve those numbers. You can always just rely on the recommendations in the owner's manual - but keep your receipts in case they change their mind.

Re: Oil Change Frequency
i wouldn't recommend going 10000km even on synthetic
the most you want to go with synthetic would maybe be 4000 miles or 3 months. they say you can go more, but why take the risk? |

Re: Oil Change Frequency
I change the oil in my solora every 5,000 to 6,000 miles and i work at a car shop were we change oil on cars and put tires on and rebuild wrecks and i think that you dont need to change it every 3,000 miles.

Re: Oil Change Frequency
I don't know the KM conversion but
3000 miles on Dino oil and 5000 miles on synthetic, I run shell Rotella T the owners manual is recommended longer but I've been a mechanic all my life , and firmly believe in shorter intervals , this is the life blood of the engine |

Re: Oil Change Frequency
Toyota recommends every 5000miles/8000 km. My dealer uses mobil dyno oil. Oil has come a long way since 1972! 5000 miles for a toyota is nothing compared to a less than adequately engineered dirty running domestic engine. Just remember to check the oil occasionaly and you'll be fine. I have no problem running my toyotas at 5000 miles service intervals. Remember the dealer decides what the service intervals are not the oil maker! if it makes you feel better service it with less miles.

Re: Oil Change Frequency
I'll post a link to a Consumer Reports article on oil interval testing they ran way back in 1996.
http://www.moneybluebook.com/article....oilchange.php Then I'll note this thread is 3 years old...closed.
