Re: What is your favourite japanese car maker?

nissan
they have so many cars with such huge potential.
skylines/stageas
silvias/240s
Z-cars
sentra/g20/primera
who else has that many cars spanning so many years filling nearly every performance niche that exists, outperforming other cars in every category for a fraction of the price

Re: What is your favourite japanese car maker?

Honda, Mazda and Subaru.

All the rest are for the most part are pretty useless.

The only Toyotas I like are Altezzas and MR2's.

The only Nissans I like are Z cars and I suppose the S15 200SX Spec R.

Nissan more cars with potential than the others. Toyota has gone exclusivly front - drive (except trucks), Honda is almost exclusivly front drive (including trucks!?) Daihatsu is well Daihatsu, Though I think Mazda would be number 2 for me.

Question, is Mazda still a Japanase car maker? Since Ford bought them out are they now part of Ford and now an American company? I just thought I'd ask.
For stuff like this though I think they're alright for the comparison.

Well then what about Suzuki, and Isuzu both owned by GM? Subaru isn't controlled by GM like the two afformentioned but they are owned by Fuji Heavy Industries which GM has stock in. Then hell Nissan is owned by Renault, thanks to a loan from the French government. I know Yamaha makes motorcycles but they too are owned by Ford. Mitsubishi was partially owned by Chrysler and Mercedes when they merged together they had controlling interest in Mitsubishi! Which makes me say wow as Chrysler owns Allison now a transmission company (who supplies transmissions to GM by the way) but also the maker of the P51 Mustang engine. Mercedes made many of the parts for Messerschmidts and Mitsubishi made the Zero and they are now all one company! What the hell was the point of World War II again?

pretty loyal to toyota/lexus.... though they are lacking in a competative sports car, but that should change quite soon with most of their recent concepts.... im excited for the lf-a to come out even if itll be more than most people ,including me, can afford

Mitsubishi! Because of the daring 90s: VR-r 300GT, 1G and 2G Eclipses, the Lancer Evo series, VR-4 TT Galants, and Shogun Pajero.

My only problem with Mitsu was their lack of a good rear drive platform. Other than that I think they were pioneers in front biased all wheel drive platforms. I like that you mentioned the Galant, though it never came with a souped up version in the US, I think it was a good looking car until recently.
