It seems almost universally agreed that Chevron Techron is the best. I've had good results with 3M also but it's harder to find.

Techron is really good, but see if you can get your hands on some Wynn's cleaner, it works really really good.

Chevron with Techron has worked the best for me and I've really noticed a difference.

Does chevron have a treatment that you buy at the station or do you guys just use their gas and that cleans it? thanks for the tips.

It's a concentrate:

Good stuff.

I also like gumout's "Regane":
http://www.pennzoil.com/TechData/pds...pdf/regane.pdf
It seems to be a little milder for regular (every 3k miles or so) use.

Always add additives to a full tank of fresh gas, then run the tank nearly dry. It's also a good idea to change the oil after that too.

Personally, I put in a bottle of Regane a little before 3000 miles, and then change the oil at around 3250.

some pressurized fuel system cleaners that shops use can work really well too. they basically run your car off of this shit (some kinda detergent) for a short time and it blows a lot of carbon out. obviously not your every 3000 mile treatment type thing.

Both Regane and Tecron run about $7/12oz - enough for one Honda-sized tank.

someone said to add it to a full tank of gas, thats incorrect, you are supposed to add the techron to an empty tank then fill your tank full so it mixes with the gas instead of just sitting on the top of it.

You're right - I should have said to add it WITH a full tank of gas.

Adding it to a full tank isn't so bad, it'll slosh around an get mixed pretty fast. But adding it to a nearly empty tank and driving is quite bad - it'll make your car run very rough and may even start to corrode some fuel system components. It needs to be diluted with the gas.

But the best is to do as crxlvr says - add it to the empty tank at the gas station right before you fill 'er up.
