VIN stamped on USDM engines?
i'm looking to buy a 92 LS swap from a guy locally. he doesn't know the VIN of the original vehicle the swap was taken from. He claims everything has 50k miles on it. But, I NEED a way to check the mileage so i know i'm not getting an engine with 100k+
anyone have any ideas??? is the VIN stamped on the block anywhere? |

The VIN of my car is posted on the windshield in the lower right hand corner (from the front).

there are supposed to be 3 places a vin is stamped.. the actual engine block, on the dash, and on the inside of the drivers door on a sticker somewhere (I think I painted over mine there).
Where exactly on the engine block im not sure, but if its out just look around for it, it has to be there (unless of course the guy filed it down, in which case its a pretty shady deal)

only obd2 cars came VIN's on the engine...they were riveted on, not stamped on....There was one right above the oil pan and right on the tranny where bell housing meets the engine block.....
