Steering Wheel Ticking
Just bought my first Caddy 4 days ago, a 2010 CTS with remote keyless entry. When I put the ignition control knob to the ACCessory position, a rapid ticking noise is coming from the steering column. When I depress the lockout button on the gear shift, the noise is extremely faint.
When the gear shift is then moved to R, N or D, the ticking goes away completely (with or without the locking button depressed), until the lever is returned to P and the shift lock button released. Is this abbynormal? |

Re: Steering Wheel Ticking
Only does it in the "accessory" position? It does sound like a problem with the shift interlock system and I doubt it is a normal condition.

Re: Steering Wheel Ticking
Definitely just in accessory. Obviously the car is still under warranty, but will wait to address this problem until I am sure there are no others. Sucker is barely broken in with only 7200 miles.
If I ever use accessory in the meantime, I'll set the parking brake and put the tranny in N or D (unless R does not turn backup lights on). Thanks. |
