Re: Weird starting issue
Info for those with the same starting problem as I had with am 2007 Rendezvous 110,00 miles. I took neverendingpain's advise and purchased a can of throttle body cleaner. I removed the rubber 4 inch diameter corrigated hose that connect the throttle body to the air filter. I spray cleaned the air temperature sensor inside this hose. I then sprayed the throttle body without starting the engine. I captured the dirty spray that ran out of the throttle body with a towel.( it was full of carbon soot and tar) I then started the car and as someone ran the engine at 2000rpm, I sprayed in 2 seconds intervales into the throttle body. I used about 3/4 of a large can.
I did this last Saturday. (today is Tuesday) The engine has not failed to start since and the problem of the starter continuing to turn after I released the key has ceased. Three cheers for neverendingpain. Thank you. |

Re: Weird starting issue
Congrats Earl glad to hear you are no longer suffering from what appears to be a common problem with these vehicles. Mine is still working as well. Now if the dealerships would spend five minutes doing what we did, maybe there would be more happy Rendezvous owners and less of these blogs complaining of this issue.

Re: Weird starting issue
You know I'm not ultimately convinced the starting issue is fixed with the C305 connector issue. I'm going to take your approach and clean the throttle body. Thanks for the info!!!!!

Re: Weird starting issue
Was looking at Rendezvous and found an 07, low miles. Had already went through this forum looking for known issues. After picking it up, couple days later got the same symptoms. Starts and dies. Had to hold gas pedal. Went straight down and picked up a can of throttle body cleaner. Sprayed via the intake with a rag under to catch the runoff. Then had the wife hold the idle at around 2000rpm while I sprayed about half the can a few seconds at a time. So far haven't gotten the "start and dies" since.
