96 skylark fuel filter
i went to advance an bought one an it dont look the same on the push on end it has the lil clips ya push together and pull the one on the car has a full round black plastic thing i tried everything to get it off? whats the deal

They can be fun, especially if they get dirt in them......
You will need a set of long needle nose pliers.... You have to get the pliers on the tube inlet of the filter(in between the body of the filter and the round ring on the line)......with your other hand, you push the fuel line towards the filter(the line will move towards the filter and up tight to the pliers).....now, while maintaining the line against the filter, you are going to pivot the needle nose pliers, so that the external ring is forced back into the line(won't take much pressure to do this).....when that clip is forced back into the line, then just pull the line to the right....it should release.... |

i just dealt with this yesterday non my '97.
had to call my mobile mechanic. the black thingy was all messed up inside and he had a tough time getting it off. pulled the whole clip mechanism out. the new filter, a purolator, has a yellow clip and this fit and worked perfectly. |
