Road rash sucks
I knew the time would come... dumped a dirt bike on pavement . Was only going maybe 30 mph but that was enough to cause a significant loss of skin. I am now a fan of protective gear. At least I was wearing a helmet And yes I'm getting back on.

Thank you makes me think twice before getting on a street bike again with shorts/t-shirt. I can't imagine what going faster would've done to me! |

Re: Road rash sucks
It always happens on that one day when you're less protected. My last incident happend when I wasn't wearing jacket, so road rash on body. But luckily the helmet and gloves saved road rash and injury on vital parts.
And it was almost happend again last week. Broad day light, wearing no jacket, just helmet and gloves. I was about to make the left turn on intersection. Tarmac is warm on hot Florida summer day, and seemingly no lose gravel. Yet still when I was exiting from the turn, bit hard on throttle and I think I had spun up the rear and was 5 secs from highside. The bike shook violently and got me off the seat. Luckily the bike took care of itself, otherwise there was a car right behind me. Key is not thinking about it and keeping the throttle constant. Always wear gear, ride safely.

Re: Road rash sucks
No kidding! I was just planning on taking some video of my friends stunting and someone pulls up with a dirt bike on the back of his truck. I couldn't resist!
In all seriousness, in Connecticut yesterday a guy (wearing full protective gear) was about to go over a bridge on the highway riding a Ninja when a deer came out of nowhere. They collided and he didn't make it. That's almost like something from the movie Final Destination. Seemed odd there was a deer there. No amount of protective gear will save you in that situation. Horrible. |

Re: Road rash sucks
actually........
there was a video on you tube where a sports bike was going through some mountain twisties. as he's leaned over to the right on full tilt a deer comes out and he hits it dead centre. no change of line, no brakes and keeps on going after the impact.

Re: Road rash sucks
Isn't that the one where he cuts the deer in half (yucky!)? Glad to hear you're getting back on crazy, an hope you heal fast.
