Stearman Aircraft (a complete WIP)
Hi Guys, I know it's been a very long time but it's not like I haven't been doing any art, it just hasn't been car art. I've been doing some carbon pencil stuff and this is my latest colored pencil piece. I had been to an airshow in Michigan in 07 and took lots of reference pics with the idea of doing some art work. There was a setup of some old Stearman biplanes that I shot and when I got time to go through my pictures I found a couple that I liked so I composed the work that you are going to see. It's done on white Stonehenge paper with Prismacolor pencils. Size is 10x16 inches. I took my layout sketch, refined it, had it blown up at the copy store, transfered it to my art paper and began laying down color. I don't have a particular method of working, by that I mean sometimes I start with the subject and sometimes I begin with the background, it just depends where my brain tells me to go. I'm not going to describe each step but you will see the progression of the work as it goes along. Sit back and I hope you enjoy the ride.

Stunningly beautiful artwork. The colors are so rich, if you had not posted the wips,
would have guessed it was oil paints. |

Just amazing! While I struggle with Photoshop, you folks using traditional colouring methods simply blow my mind.
