89 735il center tie rod arm placement?

My center tie rod arm bushings are shot after 30K miles received a new one and it seems there are two possible ways to place it. It has a slight curve and a more flat section that connects to the outer tie rod arms. I am thinking that this was installed incorrectly anyone have info on this?

I'm not entirely certain how anyone can mess that up...but I guess if you get the right person in there, anything is possible.

I'm afraid I can't be much help. The only think I can think of is this picture, maybe give you some idea as to what you need to be looking at?

I don't know your exact date of production. You can enter that and see if the parts are different. Go to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do and enter your last seven digits of the cars VIN (don't worry, it won't identify you, it's just to look up the exact production date since some parts were different from one year to the next) and you can browse systems and part numbers to see what you're looking for.
