Well first of all, the STi comes with a 2.5 liter engine, a bad assed AWD system that allows you to controll what percentage of torque goes where, a 6 speed, and etc....
all of which the regular wrx will not have.. TRUE, but you save money by buying an older wrx and you can do what ever you want to it with that money, the freedom of having your dream car, not picking from option packages 1, 2, or 3. Yes the awd is great on the new sti wrx's, but personally I would want to crank up the boost, the more psi the better, but by doing that you void the warrenty, and then what was the use of speading that extra money on a new car. Im not trying to be a dick, just get my point across.

The STI has many advantages inherent to it's design. It uses stronger drivetrain, an O-ringed block, superior engine management, stronger bottom end... the list goes on.
It comes down to the budget. You can get the WRX for cheaper, and slowly modify it, or you can spend the extra cash, get to tinker less, but have more to start with, and more potential in the long run... Personal choice, it's what tuning is all about

also...
what constitutes an "older" wrx? they've not been here that long... and it's a newer car, so the bugs won't have been completely worked out on the older models... if you're talking an older 2.5rs with an sti motor, yeah... do that... i dig that... but if you're talking about the newer ones... you can't really beat what it comes with.. try pricing out the suspension, motor, brakes and what not and then compare that to an wrx vs the new sti. i'll take an additional 80hp any day... and for that money, you get a better motor, brakes etc... |

I am just glad they limit the number they make, the way everyone is talking about them, one will pull up next to you at every light you stop at wanting to race. Every one and their brother would be driving a new sti, thank god for limited production on special model cars. I guess I would just like to see everyone drive a different car, cause how many times did you go out looking for a street race and look over in the other lane and think to yourself not another neon or is it really worth wasting my gas to kill another civic, not that I am against neons or civics, all I have to say is just be original, please. Just in case anyone is woundering my firebird is a pimped out V6, cause I didnt want to be like the rest and beat 4 cylinders with a V8, it feels too much like cheating.

Of course they had V6's... *hangs head low....* poor poor fat ninja... And to the guy with the V6 Firebird... you didnt want the V8 why? cause it felt like cheating when beating 4 cylinders?... What have you done to this Pimped out V6? A 89 Firebird w/ a 2.8 V6 only makes 125hp... I'd like to know what you've done to it... Cause I cant see a 125hp V6 3300lb car threatening much of anything besides the Shopping Carts at HomeDepot... Do tell Quote:

I will try to make this as easy to understand as possible with out taking an hour to type all my mods. Think of a GTP grand prix, same engine as the grand prix, with a bigger supercharger and an inter cooler, new tranny and I am still working on the rear end. I want to get more power to the ground and less tire spin. Why did I buy a 89 firebird you may ask, 2 things, one they are cheap under 3 grand, and second did you ever look under the hood of one, all that room, you could live in there not to mention fit what ever engine you want in there.

And yes I did do more then just that to it, rims, exhaust, stereo, all the usual, but like I said I dont feel like wasting an hour, not to mention I dont remember exactly everything I did do to it. I did have it for 5 years now, so soon time for a new project car.
