2001 ZR2 electrical issue
Lets see if I can explain this. Engine runs fine, but the dash board lights and head lights flicker, battery is dead after 12-16 hours of sitting. Battery and alternator tested fine at auto shop. I placed an Ammeter between the (-) terminal on the battery and the (-) cable. I expected for there to be a parasitic draw, but I do not know what the tolerable range is. When the ignition is just turned off, I get a reading that fluctuates between 1.5-2 amps. After about 30 seconds it drops to 0.95 amp. I know that 0.05 amp is drawn by some aftermarket accessories, they are tied into the 30A aux post in the main fuse box under the hood. I have traced the rest to a 50A fuse under the hood labeled INT BAT. Am I headed in the right direction chasing this stuff down, or has anybody else encountered this problem?

Re: 2001 ZR2 electrical issue
Update: The battery died today and I was jump started by another vehicle. I let my Blazer run for 20 minutes, shifted into drive and it died. Started again and had to keep my foot on the gas, when I took it off the Blazer stalled. It stalled about 4 more times then kept running while shifting gears. hope she starts again in an hour when I have to go to work......

Re: 2001 ZR2 electrical issue
Take it to another shop to have the battery/alt tested...
1.5-2 amps is very high if the key is out and lights off etc...check to make sure glove box light or somthing dumb like that isnt staying on....

Re: 2001 ZR2 electrical issue
I took er back to Autozone and asked them to test the battery on the bench inside instead of the little cart they bring to the car. Whadda ya know, she failed. got a brand new battery within 1 week of the end of the free exchange warranty. lol... everything seems fine, for now.
