air bag and electrical questions. 93 CV.
#1 What is airbag code 12?
#2 Running lights (tail, parking) and dash lights not working except back in January when the outside temp dropped below zero, then they worked 'till it warmed up outside. I put in an aftermarket switch about 2 years ago because of the same problem. Should I focus my search elsewhere, or are H/L switches a known problem. Tanx, in advance for your help! Have a couple more irritating little problems, but will open them to discussion after I fix these. |

Code 12 is for low battery voltage to the module. Check all cabled and connections to be sure they are clean and tight.
Sounds like your lighting is due to a wiring concern also. When the wires get cold, they will "shrink" a little and could cause a loose connection to become good again.

I agree with "Way2Old"
I would also check the fuses. Often a blown fuse in the airbag circuit will also cause a code 12. If your system has deployed, it will blow that fuse and there are multiple items you need to check Check out this website. http://www.airbagsolutions.com The purpose of this website and company is to help people diagnose and repair airbag problems themselves without taking them to the dealer (if possible). It offers all the photos and data you need to understand your airbag system, read the codes and reset the light. It’s a pay site, but it certainly is worth the money ($14.95 for 1 day full access) There’s a place to check if your car is listed on the home page http://www.airbagsolutions.com/vehicles_list.aspx This is quite an extensive website with pictures, descriptions and factory fault code charts as well as a working demo @ http://www.airbagsolutions.com/demo.aspx that shows just how easy these repairs can be. Lots of insurance companies and body shops use this site for the information they need to repair your car. I hope I’ve helped you
