Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

spreading the AF love....

over at answers.yahoo.com in the automotive section, been givin some AF GrandAM tips and answers...

One question is "How do you bypass the speed Governor on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT?"
Left a lengthy review on that lol..

as well for.. "60,000 miles on a 2002 Grand Am-Is this a good car?"
I left a pretty detailed summery of a GA and such... I was chosen with the best answer with 5 stars! horay!

Id post links but they're huge... you can goto http://answers.yahoo.com and paste in the 'search' box (not the ask box to post) the questions I have in quotes and they should come up...

Each time In my sources I left AF.com references woo

Side note, My GA hit the 165,000 mark... took a pic of it with my cell phone, im surprised its lasted this long with regular oil and such before I got my dirty hands on it and started beating it all up

oh and uhh.. WOW

Tell them all to come here !!

Everybody thinks thiers just a switch to flip to lift the speed limiter .

Where the hell did you find that TA ?
Thats a shame what they did to it :

Was working on the dome light mod ,
I've had to rethink things a little.

After getting the cutout, the end it to thin to drill into and put in LEDS. So back to the drawing board.
Heres a couple pics of what I am talking about.
together1

domeoops
Was also thinking how to put all those wires in there tooo .

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

about time! jeez it took forever to load AF!

I can't Believe pontiac did that to a T/a. Did they ever produce that or not... i forget. My father was telling me last night about Ford and what they are thinking of doing to the mustang, which is make it into a four door model and a wagon. LMAO . It's like the saying, If it isnt broken don't fix it! well apparently they haven't heard that one. If they go through with that idea, they are gonna be shooting themselves in the foot!

Hey Xi, what if you attach the CD to a piece of wood or plexiglas to make it a little thicker. Could that work? I never took mine out so i'm not sure what the guts were like inside of it.

well I won't be around too much today or through the weekend. Going into NYC this afternoon for a concert, and x-mas shopping this weekend!

Later,
Enjoy the day/ weekend

Gir,
Wont take long to scarf those pop tarts...
Then what will you do

grfnkl,
Sometimes AF loads slow for me and other days its fast Think it has to do with how many are online, choking out the server or something
You'll have to speak to Management on that one

On the TA, I dont think that was a GM project.
Someone has spent some hours on it though.
Wagons

The problem isnt with the CD thickness, it was the width of the strip not being wide enough to drill the 4-5mm hole to insert the Leds. Plus thiers not enough room for anything thicker.
Going to be a trick getting all the wires in for 10-15 Leds

I just thought it was odd, I was eating strwberry poptarts at the time I read it Though I washed mine down with a Dew

That does give new meaning grocery get'r .

The Leds are standard auto ones.
They are 4mm wide,
with the plastic part that holds them in place it comes to 5mm.

Then I have to be very carefull not to break the wires of the Leds,
because thiers a resister soldered to them covered in heatshrink tube.
For some reason they break off at the base of the Led .

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Wow it's dead around here.... I guess everyone's out Shopping, and too busy to worry about anything wrong with thier cars. LOL!

Gir: Poptarts are great breakfasts! You would probably love living up here in Jersey. We have 24 hour diners! Wohoo! Nothing like a 3am run to the diner for a mozzarella sticks or pankcakes, or both if you really hungry! LOL Most have a to go menu as well so you can eat on the run! My true favorite for the morning is Taylor ham and cheese! YUM! But since i basically roll out of bed late for work, i just go to work and eat there, either out of the gift shop in the lobby (pop tart run) or from our restaurant ( made to order eggs, pancakes etc.)

Xi: thanks for the G/A History from wikipedia. I've seen that one before.... but it's cool to see the lineage for the car.

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Hi, everybody my dad just purchased a 00 grand am for my brother, more like a loan. And i got to say these 4 cylinder engine in the grand am is nice, strong for a 4 cyclinder. And these cars have a lot of room and a trunk for 3 bodies, lol.

I drove the car today to get a smog check done and it passed with flying colors. I was a bit worried only because the owner said he didn't smog it and because of that we got another 100 bucks lowered from the price.

I did find a few things about the car that worry me that has to do with the suspension but i'll post about that later. But overall the car really runs nice and i'll be around here either reading or asking questions, seems like a good knowledgeable fourm. I was searching for a good while before i found this fourm and im glad to have found this fourm.

My dad just bought the car for my brother. Im just helping him with the smog and paper work and joined this site to learn more about the GA.

As for the suspension its stock, but i didn't notice that when i hit the brake some times the front shakes up and down and im thinking its the front struts? Though when i pushed down on the fender they did have a bounce to them but not overly. Im thinking its the struts that is causeing the shakes/bumping front end when i hit the brakes. I noticed this happens if i get aggresive on the brakes. Today i took off all 4 wheels just to check the suspention and everything looks good. So i thinking its the front struts. Other then that, car runs good. How are those 6 cyclinder Pontiacs?

I can deffently see it possable to get 5 bodies in the trunk, lol. I was telling my brother he can fit some nice 12 inch subs in the back with room to spare.

I don't know if hes running 250 hp, but the car is clean except for the multi colored caliper/brakes.
