Leaking Fluids?

Probably a stupid question, however, I have had a lot of issues with this car the past year. Not sure where to even start.. it appears to be leaking directly under the oil reservoir, and also near the right tire on the passenger side. Not leaking on the other side at all. The fluid appears to be very dark. Brake fluid is fine, coolant level hasn't went down very much, power steering seems to have gone down as well as oil fluid. The air system in the car does not work. The fluid just looks to be pretty dark, and sometimes a burning smell after running again. Is it just an oil leak?

Pontiac grand am 2000 v6

It has had a tuneup in june, oil change in june as well.

Re: Leaking Fluids?

Sounds like it could be either engine oil or power steering fluid although P/S fluid is usually clear in a Pontiac. Park it on a large sheet of cardboard overnight then check from the top of engine down with a flashlight the next morning. This might help you narrow down the exact origin of the leak. HTH

Re: Leaking Fluids?

Are you saying the fluid is clear? Or are you saying that it didn't leak on the cardboard? Need to drive it and get it warmed up before parking it 'overnight' over the cardboard. If that doesn't work you'll have to get in there and under it to locate the source of the leak. There is a flourescent dye that can be used in the oil but that should be left for professionals. Besides a 'pro' can usually find the leak without the use of it.
