Need a van.

Hi there,

I'm searching for something like this in 1/24th scale:
Peugeot J5
Citroen C25
Fiat Ducato 1
Fiat Talento
Alfa Romeo AR6
(circa 1982-94)

and/or a
Citroen C35
Citroen C32
Fiat 242
(circa 1987-91)

Emergency vehicles would be OK as a basis.

If there is nothing out there, I could eventually mod revell's 77 chevy van, but I would of course prefer something closer to the original.
Help will be appreciated.

As you might have guessed, I want a 1980's rallye service van

Re: Need a van.

if you wait a little italeri is going to reissue the ESCI ford transit of the 80s, so new decals, fresh rubbers, nicer plastic. It was a nice model.

http://www.italeri.com/news_scheda.asp?idNews=642
its on the pdf down there,..

some others you mention, as the 242 are custom made resin copies of toys from polistil burago of the 80s, but beware cause they are very expensive and ugly casted by a wellknown terrible italian fellow. stay away from it, really...

Re: Need a van.

very interesting, thanks for the info.
that Ford Transit looks nice. I wonder if it would be a more suitable base than the Chevy Van.

I actually just realized that this isnt' even a Peugeot J5 as pictured above - maybe another variant?
However, Citroen C25 looks right.

Re: Need a van.

The Transit does look interesting.

I have long wanted to build a cat detector van, from the Ministry of Housinj. Scratchbuild a bunch of bleedin' aerials, and populate it with a couple of very determined yobs in the back pinpointing purrs. I had thought that the Tamiya Hiace would be a decent place to start- but this beats all I think. Wonder if it can be build RHD...?

I checked my original ESCI Transit and it has parts for both LHD and RHD dash options.

Hi Kooba,

it's not a C25 but a C35 (identical to fiat E242).
and the J5 is a longer higher version one. It's the one of the first pics with two side doors opening compared to slidering doors of C35 van.

if you need references take a look at miniracing models, they did two 1/43 service sets offering these models.

Re: Need a van.

alright, thank you. I have seen those 1/43 service sets and found them quite inspiring. Might go for the Transit as a base for a J5 some day.
