Angry 2008 Ford Taurus X crunching noise when going over bumps

There is no sub menu for the Taurus X so I figured this is the closest thing to it. We just purchased this car in January and have had many issues with it. They have already had to replace the front passenger side axle because the car was leaking trans fluid (point where it meets the trans). It was in the shop three times to fix it (hopefully this cures it). The other problem I am having is when the car goes over speed bumps or travels on a rough road. You hear a crunching noise from both the front and rear like the whole suspension is rusted out. The last time the car was in, I had them spray lubricant on the bushings, etc to see if it would alleviate it, but unfortuntely it didn't do anything. Any idea what this could be? I have made an appt. to bring it in but want to do my homework before dropping it off. Thank you.

Hey, I am a ford tech, and I don't know about crunching noise, but I haver seen a tsb (technical service bulletien) for the new taurus' and the taurus X. The tsb is basically for the same strut mount-ish noise they never fixed for the 500. If you lube the entire strut in between the spring (it's kinda a pain in the butt) you will get rid of all kinds of noise. in the front end of these cars.

Re: 2008 Ford Taurus X crunching noise when going over bumps

what they tell us to use is thicker, maybe a bit thicker than wheel bearing grease. But if you had any, I would use bearing grease. You lube the strut rod, you need to move the cover around that covers the strut rod. By the rod I mean the part that connects to the mount at the top and goes down into the gas-filled part of the strut assembly. I personally have done this to a few taurus'. Quite often it fixes them, but sometimes the mount needs to be replaced, which I've also done a few of, but ford says to do this before throwing parts at it.
