2007 Impala LT valve cover grommets?
Working on an '07 Impala 3.5L, @ 118K miles. I am replacing the valve cover gaskets, and have almost completed the front cover, but I am stumped on how to remove the original valve cover grommet gaskets so I can replace them with the new ones. The replacements are just the rubber gasket without the metal stud that the cover bolts pass thru, and I can't get the originals separated from the cover.
Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: 2007 Impala LT valve cover grommets?
http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/conten...GM/1814670.pdfSo are the gaskets just stuck on to the valve cover or the intake?
That's a diagram for the 3.5 upper intake. Get some gasket remover and a plastic scraper of some sort to get at the gasket, (I believe the 3.5 is cast iron, but just to be safe) and make sure you clean the surface before you put the new gasket in. It gives a better seal. Last edited by happycaptain; 03-01-2018 at 11:50 AM. Reason: Image didn't take |

Re: 2007 Impala LT valve cover grommets?
if they are like the ones on my 2003 Impala they just push out. Don't remember how exactly I did it, but they will come out...late breaking news, I think maybe I pushed the bolt out then the grommet.
