New toy

Hi all, it looks like my folks are going to buy a protege, either a 98 or a 99. My garage met a tragic end on Feb 4, 2002, with both cars in it. So we're shopping the used car market for a new car. Both Proteges are 5 speed, Dx models, but the 99 comes with a sunroof and a cd player, which make a big difference when you drive daily. THe 98 has the I4, with 92 hp, and the 99 also has a I4, but with 106 hp. Compared to my previous car, a 95 Suzuki Swift, it'll be a fair jump in hp, up from 79 with the swift. But for all the bad things you could say about the underpowered swift, it had reliabilty, good fuel economy, and a long life going for it. We had put 215,000 kms on it, and we hadn't done anything bigger than a new clutch on it. For all those used to reading miles, that's 133,600 miles.
