Thumbs down 2016 Taurus holding water in doors

It has been exceptionally rainy in the South East US this year...

it seems the rubber door seals are covering up the drain holes at the back of the doors and holding in water.. I intend to snip the rubber so it does not create a seal over the hole anymore, hopefully the water will run free..

my REAL QUESTION is: should this much water get in the door in the first place?
Should I be looking at the window seals for a problem?

I've noticed on some of the newer cars the window seals have a sort of fabric like backing instead of being just rubber. So they don't seal out the water like they used to. Getting new ones if this is what you have then won't help. I guess they designed it that way to let water get in and clean things out, or they did it to cut down on noise from the rubber scraping during up and down movement. Then they didn't talk to the people designing the bottom door seals to let them know more water is coming in, so make sure it will flow out. I would just concentrate on the bottom so that what gets in there will come out. I on certain vehicles have put in additional holes and made current holes bigger. I also use brushes that were made to clean reusable straws to clean the drain holes every few months.

it is more of a "felt" than a rubber seal at the window. when the windows are foggy, and i roll them down, it does not clean the fog off the glass which means they don't even touch, inside or outside.

Before snipping any of the weatherstripping I'd suggest you make sure the existing drain holes are clean using brushes similar to what 65comet suggested, or find something similar. These cars go through more testing before being released to market than probably any of our cars will ever see in normal use. If your doors are retaining water, something isn't working the way it was designed, and I'd invest time figuring out what's not normal before modifying what is there.

watch the video. the rubber weather stripping is what covers the existing drain hole. the hole is clear and runs free when the rubber is lifted off of it.
