89 Camry Backup Lights not working

The backup lights in my 89 Camry are not working, I have checked the bulbs, and fuses and they are fine. Any ideas where to look next?

If its anything like the later Camry's, you probably have a bad neutral start switch which is mounted on the trans case. Check the "R" light to see if it lights up along with any of the other gear selection lights. Hope that helps.

Re: 89 Camry Backup Lights not working

The car has a manual transmission, so I won't be able to see a "R" light. Thanks for the quick response, any other ideas?

Re: 89 Camry Backup Lights not working

The reverse switch is located on top of the tranny. This can be tested by checking for continuity.
