can PCV vacuum leak cause problems with transmission fluid and/or fuel injection system?
I took my car to the dealership this morning. They diagnosed as needing to fix the camshaft cover and having a PCV leaking vacuum. All of this is covered by my warranty because my car currently has 49,000 miles on it.
But they also say I need to exchange the automatic transmission fluid for $280 and clean the fuel injection system for another $270 which they say I would have to pay for. My question is, can the camshaft cover/PCV leaking vacuum issues have caused the need to clean the fuel injection system and/or replace the transmission fluid? (Because I feel like those should be covered under the warranty if that’s the case…) |

A vacuum leak can affect engine performance and skew proper transmission shift patterns. 49k does not call for a trans service, check your maintenance manual for recommended service intervals, in my opinion these services are being oversold. If engine performance has suffered and and can be traced to dirty injectors, yes that service may be appropriate.
