Question Do you ever turn the car stereo OFF?

The last two night I've driven home from work with the radio and everything completely off, and it's been really relaxing. The only noise is from the engine, the road and the air. I never realized how much background noise I have in my day.

Try it for a change. It's good stuff!

Yes, i turn it off alot. I like being able to hear the motor, hear the road, and to just be able to hear myself think.

I did that once..... then, I pulled my gun out because I thought someone ripped me off! Scared me so much, I'm now in a 12-step program to handle my paranoia!!

I always have it on during the day, and LOUD. But once it's night, the radio either goes really really quiet or off completely. I totally relax at night. Sometimes if there's no one behind me I'll drive 20kph under the limit, that's how calm I get.

When I take that 3 hour drive back up to Petoskey most Monday morning, I dont even turn it on. Its makes for a nice quiet cruise on empty highways. That and you can go 120 (mph) without having to worry about other vehicles.

I rarely drive with no tunes. I need some kind of background music to keep my sanity. Awhile ago I was forced to go a few weeks with no tunes because of a dying alternator. That sucked!

I usually drive with the stereo off. I like to hear myself think, listen to the road, and just generally enjoy the silence when I'm away from phones and the computer. I do like to turn it on when I'm driving long distances through the country. The Vina Plains don't give me much to look at back home, but driving 101 on the other hand...I don't care if the stereo is on or not...I have a hard enough time taking my eyes off the ocean.

After driving all summer long & part of fall on my Motorcycle (600F4i) hadn't listened to the radio for almost 5 months , what a shock it was when I got in my truck & heard all new songs.
I was thinking WTF were are the tunes whats going on! Now I just drive with the radio off!

Only when I have a headache !

I have it loud alot, cause I love the bass .

The only times I really turn it down are at traffic lights (to pretend that I don't want the attention ), and when I'm trying to isolate that newest noise...

But seriously, I do find it relaxing without the radio on. Then it gets boring though - I find myself more stressed at the end of my day when I get a spare truck without a radio. Music really does calm me down .

I sometimes turn my stereo off and have the windows down when I want to hear the sound of the MIVEC in my FTO kick in at about 4500rpm!! Sounds so sweet!!! It's a real screamer!!!
