99" ALERO-anti lock and off trac light on at same time...

I have a 1999 Olds alero, and the Anti lock light & off trac light on my dash would come on after driving a few miles. When these lights would come on while I was driving the car would jerk, and sometimes if I was stopped at a red light, and then I then press the gas, the car would slightly stall for a second. Than yesterday, I drove about 10 miles and then stopped to get gas , and got back into my car, and started the car, and the car turned on. However, when I put the car in drive it would not move(but the eletrical items were still on). I tried turning the car off and on a few times, and the car did start up. Is this something dealing with the wheel bearing hub? Or is this a transmission problem?

Autozone does not have the capability to pull ABS codes from a GM Mark VI or GM/Bosch 5.3 ABS system nor is it their policy to do so. Only odbii-scans are free for engine and emissions.

This needs to be scanned with an ABS capable scanner. The GM dealer's Tech II is the best scan tool to use but it will probably cost for diagnostics. Most likely a bad wheel sensor within one of the four hubs but could also be a wiring problem or electrical connector problem at the hub. It sounds like it is failing the second part of ABS initialization which is when the wheel sensors are checked at speeds above 8-10 mph.

Note: This thread has been moved to N Body Problem Diagnosis.
