Misbehaving spark plug wires :(((( Nissan 240SX

For the past two years I have change my spark plug wires and spark plugs about seven times. For some reason the spark plug wires would not stay in the nest for more then a week. I have to always open the hood and push them in.

I have no idea what could be the cause but it’s driving me crazy. Has anyone experienced the same problem, or have a solution for this.

Only thing that seems to come to my mind is that...Maybe the Spark Plugs are giving a good seal and the piston on the up stroke is pushing air up and pop it off like a pop lid? Maybe im jsut stupid but thats the only thing i can think off

what kind of spark plugs are you buying each time? maybe they are just crap. I've never heard of plugs coming off that often.

the threads where the plugs go in may be stripped..

edit: do you get a gasoline smell coming from your engine bay? or are your cylinders leaking at all near the spark plugs?

Buy an SR20, Screw in Coil on Plug > Distrubutar thing

Torque plugs properly. Make sure the gasket on the plug is in good shape. Make sure the plug "snaps on" the plug.

I use just the typical wires and spark plugs form AutoZone.

Thats fine to use that stuff...just you do know there are torqueing values for Spark Plugs right? and if you lube anything before torqueing it you get a false reading....

Torque values for the spark plugs are 17-28ft/lbs of torque or 2/3 turn after the plug becomes snug. I don't even use the torque values. I just tighten them until they "feel" good.

IDK about that lubing part. I would think you get a more accurate reading by lubing bolts before torquing. You are supposed to lube head bolts before torquing and I use anti-seize lubricant on my spark plugs all the time. It keeps them from seizing up to the aluminum heads and bringing the threads out. But you do it your way, I'll do it mine.

I have a cheep ranch for spark plugs. I just tighten them until they "feel" good.

One more thing, when I buy the spark plugs the end of it (where the white part is) comes with two sets of caps (metal nipples that you screw into the plug). One is a small nipple the other is a little bigger, which one should I use?

The one that fits your plug wire better. It should kinda snap on the wire. I am unfamiliar with what you are talking about as all of my plugs have come with the top part already on the plug. What kind of plugs do you use?

May be that’s the problem, the spark plug wire is not snapping to the plug I will try to see if I can do anything with the wire for it to be able to better hold on to the plug.
