Ok lowridder I am going to call you out on that video. If you are serious, please do your best to find it again and post a link here.
I am sure there are million people besides me that would love to see that. Yes, they were American made. The w8's were made in Wilmington, Ca I believe and the m12s were made in Florida. |

lowridder11 - " I just think it (the W-8) is ugly. the M12 has style and HUGE air intakes!"
Both cars have their good styling points. I find it hard to believe you would think the W-8 is super ugly and the M-12 is stylish. Both cars are your typical exotic car styling. There was no ground breaking styling with ethier car. Both cars have serious mechanical and design issues. The qulaity of the M-12 from the factory was more along the lines of a Yugo then a Ferrari. Only mechanically skilled owners or owners with deep pockets have been able to keep W-8s or M-12s on the road. Both cars were developed on tiny budgets when compared to other vehicles. Considering the history of Vector, it is amazing they built any cars. DMC12 - "Is $98,500 a good price for a Vector? Who makes the engine & are replacement parts readily available?" $98,500 is fair market value for most Vectors right now. Vectors is great shape are around $130,000. Buyer beware that parts can be hard to get. The departure of David Kostca from Aqua Jet/Avtech Motors/Vector Supercars has given W-8 owners a chance to hire one of the key developers of the W-8. David knows these cars inside and out. Some owners have spent more on repair and up keep ont eh their W-8s then they paid for the car. lowridder11 - "I saw a video on the internet of a w8 doin' almost 200 before it lifted of, landed on the rear and exploded. I know the ultimate Vector W-8 tracker and have followed W-8s for many years. I have interviewed Wiegert and met many key people with Vector. I have lists of current and past pwners. I know the history of most of the production cars and the company. Never have any of the W-8s or M-12s flipped. Until you find proof to back up your claim, I would say you are wrong. |

I don't know much about the W8, but I'm pretty sure it has an all alluminum 6 litre engine made by general motors and that bad boy has a non-proven 218 top speed. I don't know if it's true but I also heard it has a 3 speed automatic from GM. If any of you guy's jam out on playstations get Gran-Turismo II. They have Vectors there in the south city. I have a yellow W-8 pushin' 758 horses, and it can woop just 'bout anything in that game. Of course it's just a game, I have no idea what it could really do.

I do think video games sometimes give cars more performance in the game then they would get in real life. The W-8 is a solid straight line car, but through the turns it struggles when compared with other high performance cars built around the W-8 production time, such as the McLaren F1, Porsche 911 Turbo, and so on. There is no traction control of anykind on the W-8. The GM 3-speed automoatic transmission is a disadvantage for the W-8. I would think a 6-speed Corvette Z06 could out run a stock W-8 on a twisty race course. The Z06 has 405 bhp and the W-8 with 630 bhp. Kind of sad to think a car with 225 bhp less would be faster, but there is a 10 year difference between the cars. There is also $60,000 average price difference between a used W-8 and a new Z06. If you just compare when new prices, then there is hundred of thousands of dollars difference between the two models. |

Re: Let's Start Counting How Many Times Weigert Trys To Sell His w8 On Ebay!
the vector w8 is a real american exotic car much like the saleen, american engine and american design, people that think its ugly are retarded, it looks the same boxy-ness of the lamborghini countach, the m12 i don't feel is american, true it was built in florida, but a lamborghini engine that cut the power of the original plan by half, the wx-3 the wiegert design, was supposed to have near 1000hp, the same as todays bugatti veyron. and for those that think the escudo from gran turismo 2 is great, relize you are comparing a purpose built race car against a street car, the only thing that's the same is they both have engines, and that's really it, in august 2006 gerry showed up to a car show in CA with a new avtech, i haven't seen pics or heard anything else about it, but he was probably attempting to sell his w8, to either get an idea of what to price his new car at, or trying to get money to produce the new one more reliabley. there is only one recorded accident involving a vector, it was a black w8, i'm not sure as to weather it was a test or on a road though. and niether car is a ground breaking type of car, ithey were designed to compete with ferrari lotus and lambo.
