2004 S40
I saw the pics of the 2004 S40 on the Road & Track website, and the new car looks Awesome! Ive heard rumors that they will finally have a manual, AWD, and a Turbo I5 for stateside. Is this true? That will be one bad ass car if Volvo goes with it.

Its there! October 2003 issue of Car And Driver showed the new S40, coming spring of next year. the engine is the Inline five taken from the AWD S60, mated to a six speed manual, with AWD. My girlfriend owned an '02 S40 and its a great car, the only thing it was missing was a stick. By the way, are S40s sold in England available with a manual tansmission?

I think in Europe there are more manuals sold then automatics.
Floorpan will be the same as the new Focus will be on, starting with the C-Max. Petrol engines are said to be 5-cyl first. Next year will come the 4-cyl then. Diesel engines will be 1.6 unit which has been developped by Ford/PSA and is in fact the 1.6HDI with 130 bhp which will also be used by Citroën, Peugeot and Ford. This sounds to good to be true. Volvo's safety + Ford's superior Focus chassis + PSA's HDI engine! The only proper choice for Europeans Oh and it's build in Belgium |
