caddy wont start
When we would try to start the car we would have to keep the key turned forward and it would sound like the battery was dead but then the car would start. If we drove it for more than a mile we would have to let it sit for a half an hour and cool of before we could start it again other wise if we sat there and tried to start it or tried to get a jump because we thought the battery was dead the car would have to sit for hours. We ll tonight we got in it to take off and went to start it and it cranked over a few times and then nothing. there is power to everything it just won't crank not even a click. We think the silinoid??? This is our only car due to our stratus's head gasket going and we need to fix it by sunday so plz any ideas would help out sooo much thanks.

Re: caddy wont start
My first guess would be a bad starter that is pulling too many amps.

Re: caddy wont start
I had a 1983 Fleetwood brougham that did something similar. It was a bad distributor. the wiring from the distributor would get HOT and shut down the HEI module and the car would not start until the wires cooled down. Eventually when I changed the cap, rotor, coil, wires, plugs and thought that would help. The module and everything under the distributor cap melted and caught fire. It was possible to salvage the distributor area with a new one but my wife was so afraid of a car fire happening again she made me get rid of a great 4.1 liter 4100HT car. Hope this helps.
