16v inplace of a 8v
the engine in my wifes 95 tracker tossed a rod the other day , i was checking around to get the prices of used engines , what i want to know is , can i use a 16v SOHC long-block in place of the 8v without having to do anything other then swap the intake and other stuff off the 8v ? thanks for any help with this

*The pistons in a 16v motor have 4 valve reliefs where as the 8v will only have 2 reliefs per piston.* As far as I know the block, crank and everything are the same the pistons are the only difference.
Im not for sure is you can swap a 16v short block to a 8 vlave head because im not sure where or how far the valves drop, swapping might cause you to have the valves smacking your piston but dont quote me on that because im not for sure. |
