Peugeot 403 convertible (1959): Lt.Columbo's junk heap - Tin metal pace scratch build.

Attention! Unique Hi-Tech way to metal forming for scale autos will follow!

Peugeot 403 convertible (1959): Lt.Columbo's junk heap it self that become famous after this TV series.

3D model:

Fully tin metal parts ready for the current state:

The way it was done:

3D model is made in 3DMax, then exported to Rhinosceros and plugin "Squish" do the rest to make the 2D cutting patterns that printed and transfered from paper then to metal.

Next tools was used, to form the metal. Basically, the English wheel was used only in trunk forming, for now, left wing curvatures was done only with a hammer.

Later on, can explain the method with more detailes and how-to's with all that 3D stuff and metal forming techniques.

As much as I love to see all the cool high tech stuff people are doing these days, it's awesome to see something so decidedly and perfectly old school! I can't wait to see more.

Yes, thats what is all about - 1:1 metal forming techniques in scale.

Well, the build is in 1:25. The EW was specially squised out to the size of it. Also I've got some pics on how to manage some larger "lower wheel anvils sets" on it.

I guess that should be clear from the pics.

Again "anvils" was simply mashinned like that. Dremel and a file on a nut.
Shitty, but still works...

Re: Peugeot 403 convertible (1959): Lt.Columbo's junk heap - Tin metal pace scratch build.

Ok, lets update.

Rear body parts.

Was surprised that, even though, the trunk was formed as the first part at all, long ago without the body, the line between it and a body is almost perfect. It schould be only reshaped more bunchy....

....& a lower roller - small bearing from RC store. Very good for making parts plain.

Sieben: I also used this technology on my previous work, but in 1:1 cars. I see it the first time in 1:24 scale. You amaze me.

For sure ))) Ok, thanks stratos. I,m pioneering it bw if smth)

Keep aligning the trunk a bit. Give some cuts. The gap should be made of course. Will scratch a line and then dremel....or just dremel whatever....
