How many miles do you get out of an S10?
How many miles, on average, do you get out of a s10 before you start having major problems assuming the fluids have been changed regularily?

Re: How many miles do you get out of an S10?
that depends on A LOT of factors. I'd say right off the bat, a big factor is the coolant. if it has (orange) dexcool that hasn't been serviced, you can expect radiator, water pump, and intake gasket problems after 100k miles.
auto or manual transmission? 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive? year? mileage?

Re: How many miles do you get out of an S10?
Like viggy said, every truck is going to be different depending on year, mileage, drivetrain, and how the truck was used. On a newer (say 96+) S10 with a 4.3 and 4wd, by 100,000 miles or so you will probably be replacing the lower intake gaskets, water pump, thermostat, tune-up items (cap, rotor, plugs, possibly wires), fuel pump depending on use, and most of the front suspension wear items (U/L ball joints, idler arm, control arm bushings, wheel bearings). A 2wd would be the same mechanically except for, obviously, the front suspension.

Re: How many miles do you get out of an S10?
I have a 96 s10 blazer. around 195k changed the intake manifold gasket and heater core, rebuilt transmission around 204k and it has 215k on it now and running strong. Depends on if you perform regular maintenance, helps avoid problems but cant completely avoid them!

Re: How many miles do you get out of an S10?
I have a ZR2 1999 manual transmission awd with 280,000 miles. Have replaced clutch, fuel pump, master cylinder, and recently the coil. I believe that I have an ABS sensor out as the light is on presently, (my reason for being here). All in all, I love this car or would not being driving it presently. Have used synthetic oil since 150,000 miles, change it like clock work, and for the most part, the engine is great!

Mine is at 224k as of now replaced fuel pump 2 times and water pump 1 time. A/c don't work but that is all. If you don't mind a beater the engine will run for a long time.
