'99 Nissan Pathfinder Stereo Install Questions

I drive a '99 Nissan Pathfinder and am planning on installing a Kenwood MP528 deck, Kenwood KDC-1679ie speakers in the front and an iPod adaptor. Although I've never done a car stereo before myself, I have a friend who has installed a few and is going to help me, as I don't want to spend $250 to get all this installed at Best Buy.

However, there are a few concerns I have that I want to make sure we will get it done correctly.

To begin, I have been informed there is a factory amp in the rear of the car that needs to be bypassed. After searching online for instructions on how to do so, all I found was a way to completely remove the amp. If someone can let me know if it really needs to be bypassed, and if so how to do it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Secondly I've learned that I need to get a Nissan antenna adaptor, and was just wondering where I can get one of these.

Lastly, with the Kenwood iPod adaptor is there any special way this needs to be hooked up, or is it simply plug and go? And in the Pathfinder, is there a better place to run the iPod cable then others/would it be easy to run the cable into the glovebox without cutting anything up?

If anyone has any specific advice about installing in a Pathfinder, please let me know. I appreciate any help or advice you can give me.

Re: '99 Nissan Pathfinder Stereo Install Questions

Well your headunit has an internal amp so there will be no need for the amp there anyways, thats prob. what they meant by by-passing it.....taking it out completely.
