would that be just the body or also the engine. or both? cuz people tell me that are selling their bikes are just the body work that has been damage.

Re: salvage title

salvage titles are bikes that have been claimed through an insurance company and the insurance company decided that repairs will exceed value, so they brand a salvage title to it. it doesnt have to be wrecked, it can have minor cosmetic damage from a theft case. or it can be completely wrecked. the bike can be changed to a rebuilt title one the bike is repaired and given an inspection buy your local dmv. you cannot register a salvage title which means you cannot ride it on the rode until it is changed to a rebuilt. this is why you can get them very cheap.

Re: salvage title

^ what he said, BUT... depending on the state, and WHY it was deemed "salvage", it can be a REAL PITA to get it registered and inspected.

Re: salvage title

There are for the most 3 types of titles clear ( what you got new) salvage ( bike was damaged but can be fixed and ridden. But you will never get full coverage insurence) Scrape ( can only be used for parts)

Re: salvage title

there are many more than that. you have clear, salvage, rebuilt, certificate of destruction, lien. i think there is one more. the no insurance deal on a rebuilt title might just be your state. here as long as it is streetable it can be insured.

Re: salvage title

Not all states will allow you to get a rebuilt title. I know for fact that Florida will not let you retitle a bike once it is listed as Salvage. Pennsylvania, and I think Ohio, will title a salvage bike as rebuilt (R-titled) if you can get the bike back to "road worthy" and inspection checked status.
