Re: off topic/ place to chat version 1.2

hahahaah awesome! i cant wait for my first knee-dropping experience!

by the way i have to agree, i really did like the feel of the 'baby blade', it felt so light and nimble and you sat 'in' it rather than on it, like the gsx Across, but thats not to say the across isnt a comfortable bike, its just a less race-feel, and cmon man, think of the storage!!!

tried on a nice A stars jacket too! was gonna try on some hjc helmets but stupid my had to be all fashionable and put gel in his hair, didnt he!

get used to helmet hair dude. easiest way to pick the fake bikers at a club is the guy with a Diesel or Morrisey leather bike jacket and a head full of product!

wouldn't worry to much about it when your trying on helmets. you don't have to by the one you just soiled. same goes for underpants

i want a new alpinestar jacket but it doesn't go with my pants.

i know its sacrilege, but for my birthday i made my wife buy me a Ventura bike rack. i know, i know its a sports bike and not a tourer but i'm getting old and don't want to carry a back pack any more.

also hoping for an Andersons bike stand

Re: off topic/ place to chat version 1.2

My first inspection is the forks (make sure they are dry and there is no leaking oil or signs of distress, bending, or whatever) That is to make sure there wasn't an accident or a bunch of wheelies. Then I check up under the tail and body to make sure there aren't little bits of rubber from burnouts. I am picky about my bikes, and I don't want some machine that was beat to piss by some lil barstool squiddie. MAKE SURE THE BIKE IS COLD WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT! If an owner knows the bike is hard to start or has problems starting, they might have gone and "warmed it up for you". I personally won't even look at a bike if it's already warm. I tell them I will come back another time when it has not been started. Check chain, tires, headlights, brake lights (both switches), horn... Um, I can't think of the rest right now, but that's a good start.

Re: off topic/ place to chat version 1.2

awesome thats a great start thanks alot for the help... the guy is selling a little lower than the rest of the guys who are selling the same kind of bike, but it could just simply be that he needs quick $$$, im fairly hesitant though, so i'll make sure to give it a real thorough inspection...

would you recommend looking for oil at the forks after a test drive? if there is a problem i'd suspect he'd have it all cleaned off, but maybe it would be better to give the bike a bit of a workout, then check...

once again tange, thanks a bunch if i get it (5 days from now), ill be sure to post pics straight away

(yes roll your eyes and laugh, its a piece of poo 250, but i'll be prouder than freddy's dad)

since its a 250, check for drop damage more than wheelie damage.if it has an aftermarkt exhaust, ask for the original or check the flange for scrapes. bar ends and clutch covers are also easy targets

check the front brakes for warped discs.
check the chain and sprockets for wear.

Hey Blayne, did you get your Blade's dashboard panel fixed or whatever? So what's current mileage now? You mentioned something about odo starting from 0. Any aftermarket seats for the saddle, the stock seat looks like an ass-killer.

Btw is 80 kmh (50 mph) on the twisities that fast? I go that fast on the cages while on a narrow c and s-curve.

thats a bugger dude. have you tried a personal loan with a bank?

Z, my blades just over 1 year old now with 500k's (310miles). it should have 6500k's (4000miles)

as for the twisties, its an 80k zone but on the corners i average 100 (65) and top out on the straights at 190k's (120mph)
considering this road is narrow with gravel and debris in parts and many repaired potholes, it makes for interesting riding

stock seat is ok but the pillion suffers.

Lyndon, save those pennies and get a used on with straight up cash. It should be cheaper too, to buy it from a private owner.

Blayne, any knee-dragging involved? hehe.

no knee draggin. my style doesn't get close. i scrape my toe sliders and hero knobs on my foot pegs, but no knees.

just ordered a new front sprocket. 1 tooth down. maybe now she'll wheelie under first gear power without clutch. problem is i'll have to buy a new speedo that runs off a wheel instead of the gearbox

Gotta question for ya Aussie, which roots from another topic. Why don't manufacturers incorporate ABS to more and more bikes? I know it takes away the fun of sliding or adds tenths of seconds to total braking power during an emergency braking. But it has become a safety issue when many new riders lock their brake during leans.
