CNC mill/lathe anyone with one making wheels?
Anyone know of a service that would make a set of 1/24 scale wheels from an image that I guess would be loaded into a pc the nto a mill/lathe?
dont want to pay a million dollars but just would like to know what a reasonable price would be for this service and if it is available thanks Harry |

Re: CNC mill/lathe anyone with one making wheels?
A few details would help:
1.Are you planning to supply a normal picture or a CAD image?... because that's where most of the work is. 2. How complicated is the design if you're not providing a CAD file? Picture? 3. What material would you like it machined in?

Re: CNC mill/lathe anyone with one making wheels?
A section view of the wheel in a DXF format or 3D solid model is translatable into most any CAM package. Or any competent machinist can work off a properly dimensioned drawing.
Considering that any CNC shop I know has an overhead rate of $100 an hour, you'd have to either bite the bullet on a set of 4 wheels or get them to do a run of wheels that could possibly be sold to other modelers. The only other cost effective thing I can come up with is to find a modeler who has a lathe at home and is willing to work cheap. Offering to supply the material, lunch and beer always gets my vote for payment accepted. Bob |

I could possibly be able to machine these for you using a Haas CNC Mill. If you have any CAD or CAM files, I may be able to take a look at it.
