Advice - color scheme for Porsche 911 GT3 racecar

Hey guys,

What are some of the most stand-out, awesome color schemes you've seen for race cars?

This is for a Porsche race program for Japan for 2012.

A more black-themed one is likely to stand out, like this:

as many Porsche are white-color based.

How about something like this?

I think a race car should be bright. Dont't like those black Audis at all.

Igor, Eugene's idea of a art car is awesome, and may take advantage of BMW art car's fame.
I'm wondering a traditional Japanese design with giant gold and red lack designs and letterings on matt black.
Would be awesome.

"Art Car" is rather in connection with BMW - something symetric with black would fit better to a modern Porsche IMO

^This.

Mike's scheme above w/red is what came to my mind (before seeing his art), and APR's Audi R8 at Daytona was killer:

Something along those lines would be great.

Re: Advice - color scheme for Porsche 911 GT3 racecar

surely the last #26 Moretti porsche is the nicest imho (and also a real challenge to paint)

http://www.motorsport.com/grandam/ph...id=1285432&s=2

Otherwise also the flying lyzard cars raise the perfection, unless u will play the big bad and beautiful and the Alzen Porsche is a must.

"Arlekin" paint as Calder's BMW is also way cool, and suspect that Pantera I started will end in such way, also cause is an italian car.
I already build the Krauss porsche 993rsr in such livery, and is so cool to see it in showcase.

Gentlemen,

here is what I came up with. Click on the Polaroids to see the full-size pictures and read the story.

I'll be adding more variations in the near future. This is actually quite a fun project.

EDIT: The white 997 is a more LeMans oriented livery. It features newspaper clippings about LeMans races from the good ol' days.

Regards,
Sebastian

Re: Advice - color scheme for Porsche 911 GT3 racecar

y'know, I've always liked the idea of an asymmetric livery design; imagine the old psychodelic hippie but even more psycho because it's not symmetrical.
Not sure how it translates into reality though.

maybe someone can upload a large sized line image and we can all have a play with this.

Why not, good idea, but I think we should find a common core, a part of livery, a theme... A starting point in a sense.

Re: Advice - color scheme for Porsche 911 GT3 racecar

Here's another paint scheme that I think is very cool:

I like the idea of a smooth color transition - you don't see that on race cars too often.

Sebastian's designs are also awesome, especially the last one, and I wonder how it would look with AF pages instead of the newspapers.

I also like the idea of a group build. If someone would print the decals, I'm in!
