Grand AM SE1 needs help!!!
Hey, I recently bought a 2000 Grand AM Coupe SE1 2.4liter 4 cylinder duel over head cam... ( 150hp 155torque) with 65,000 miles. I need any help on performance that I can get for this car. MY #1 QUESTION IS: Does anyone know how much hp/ torque I can get out of a 400-500$ engine programer and if so, which??? I am new to this and need some real help. Im looking to get it up to around 200-250 hp. Please list what you know. Thank You! (My main interests are any thing exhaust related, engine programmer/chip, cold air intake, or really anything else that some one knows about...haha)

Re: Grand AM SE1 needs help!!!
Welcome to AF.
thiers a lot of stuff you can do to your engine, but you are not going to get 200 hp for $500, more like $4000. You can find CAI and get a custom exhaust that should give you a few more HP. I dont know anything about that superchip, new to me. But you can buy a DHP PCM which will allow you to utalize your other mods and custom tune your engine. http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GA3010/GAUNDE...+Am+SE-GT.html

Re: Grand AM SE1 needs help!!!
No way! Looks like more useless crap!
This would be your best bet for the money or one cheaper somewhere else... http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GA3018/GAUNDE...+Am-Alero.html Or a super charger, $4400 http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GA3017/GAUNDE...arger+Kit.html Like I said above a CAI and a custom exhaust would be the place to start. This site has a cold air intake and an exhaust header for your engine. http://www.z-spec.com/catalog

Re: Grand AM SE1 needs help!!!
WoW Thanks Again! The supercharger is a little out of my league, because at my current state I am only able to spend up to about 1,500$. I wish I had more but I dont. So from the Z-SPEC Calalog Webiste would you say just about everything on there that fits my engine is legitimate? I want to get atleast near 200 hp out of 1500 bucks and i think i should be able to get close. The headers are nice and not too xpensive, and I am wanting to work on the majority of the exhaust. As you can tell I do not know much at all lol. And would appreciate any more advice you could give me, but please keep everything simple. Im trying to learn lol...and I really want to learn more about that engine programmer so I am going to try and loom into that.
