Re: ’68 Camaro

I shot the body with Dupont Le Mans blue last night and foiled all the trim this morning.

Re: ’68 Camaro

It looks really good! Can you tell me where you got the paint and how you applied the paint?

Thanks,

Stu

Re: ’68 Camaro

I got the blue from my brother, he just had a real car painted this color. I airbrushed it and sealed it with a thin coat of Matrix urethane.

Re: ’68 Camaro

I made the stripes and applied them. When fully dry I’ll cut the panel lines through.

Re: ’68 Camaro

I made and added the side marker lights and door & trunk locks. The stripe decals have been “fine-tuned”.

Re: ’68 Camaro

The final clear is done and once it cures I’ll cut, buff and wax it.

Re: ’68 Camaro

Well, it is a 4:1 ratio clear to activator.
I added at least 30% reducer, maybe 40%, to the two parts.
I didn't measure the reducer, I just added it until I got the desired consistency.
I also dropped the air pressure about 15-20% of usual, again I didn't look at the gauge, just went by feel.

Re: ’68 Camaro

I may borrow that technique for modifying a hood or two. The rest of the progress is as fantastic as always!!

Re: ’68 Camaro

The glass fits very well on this kit. It’s getting close to being finished…

Looks amazing!

Where are the astro vents in the dash though? Looks like you used the '67 dash

Re: ’68 Camaro

Thanks guys. Just about done with it...

The exhaust and door handles are installed. I made a standard gas cap to replace the SS style that came it the kit.

I replaced the side view mirror with the square style from a ’69 Camaro, (the kit came with a round one correct for ‘67).
