What would win in a race:

05' Dodge Magnum RT or 04' Pontiac GTO??

Re: Magnum Vs. GTO

I think GTO w/ 6-speed is superior in performance all around.

Re: Magnum Vs. GTO

this is a different kind of question. but i would guess that the GTO would win. the magnum has a 5.? L hemi and the GTO has the LS1 (if i am correct), so the power is about the same.

Yeah, they both have 5.7-liter pushrod V8s, and power output is comparable. The GTO, however, is a lot lighter, and better geared for performance driving.

Well, I couldn't find a 1/4mile time for a Magnum R/T, but they run 0-60 in about 6.3seconds. The current GTO does it in about 5.9-5.7seconds depending on the transmission.

However, One thing that's interesting to consider (especially if you saw the article in Popular Hot Rodding magazine) is that in '06 there will be a Dodge Charger based on the Magnum/300C platform that will have the SRT-8 driveline and there will be a new GTO with 400hp.

Should make for a fun battle. What's Ford doing again? Oh yeah, playing with ponies.

C'mon, the new 'Stang is bad-ass. I hope the new Camaro and GTO are similar (i.e. old-school design and all-American platforms).

New Camaro is in legal limbo because the St. Therese plant was razed.

Next gen GTO will still share a Monaro platform, only this time Pontiac designers are in on the ground floor instead of just facelifting a half-decade or so old model. GM has a few new global RWD platforms, the GTO will use one of them that I believe is also going under an Opel, a Buick, a Caddy, a Vauxhall, and some other cars.

As for the new Mustang, chasing midlife crisis types is exactly what lands a car in the midst of low sales limbo. You have to branch out to new customers as well. The driveline is good, the chassis is decent (the LS never exactly lit a fire under Lincoln like it was supposed to) but the styling is one more of John Mays's completely inferior "I don't have any new ideas so retread a classic" ideas.

F--, you can do better. Of course I'm still mad at those Ford fuckers for canceling the Jaguar F-type to produce the Lincoln Blackwood and Aviator.

So what if the styling is recycled, the bang-for-buck is sweet

According to Road and Track, the 300C does a 1/4 mile run in 14.3 seconds....

Re: Magnum Vs. GTO

C&D pulled a 13.9, I think. C&D's times are almost always better than R&T's, though.
