Unhappy '95 Passat FL power window problem

my driver side power window stopped working this morning, unfortunately in the DOWN position in the middle of WINTER in PORTLAND OREGON. i had just lost power from the battery due to a loose connection, so i'm wondering if somehow that could be at fault. all the other windows work fine and dandy. i really don't have enough money to buy a $375 power window motor, what can i do to make sure that's what needs replacing? also, would a power motor for a '97 passat glx vr6 sedan be compatible with my '95 passat glx vr6 sedan? or, is there any way to manually return the window to the closed position (that would be awesome) ?? thanks for your expertise and willingness to share it

PS i took the door panel off just to see if anything was blocked or looked out of whack, and saw nothing out of normal. all electrical connections were good and tight, too.

Re: '95 Passat FL power window problem

this one was solved by tightening the connections to the battery.
