Blower motor runs on high speed only
1994 cherokee. Blower motor runs on high speed only. Pulled apart dash, found plug on fan speed selector switch melted. Bought new fan switch. I also bought a new blower motor because it squeeked a little when it pulled it out and ran it on the bench. I'm guessing the motor caused enough of an AMP draw to heat up and melt the plug at the rear of the blower switch?
After that I still have the same problem. I am thinking it may be the blower motor resistor that I see on the wiring diagram in the Chiltons book, but they wont tell you where it is located. If you know where they hid the BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR I would love to hear from you |

The heater resistor in located under the right side of the dash, on the evaporator housing.

I also have this problem. I replaced the same switch and the blower motor (because it make harsh noises). I went to the local salavage yard and all the XJs I saw had the same problem. Not only that but the little wiring harness that connects to that switch was really messed up. I asked the chysler dealer for the replacement, but he said the wiring for the dash is one big bundle. so i cut the harness off and put on new connectors. but i have no idea how it get the other speeds to work. i am just happy it blows at all.

Re: Blower motor runs on high speed only
Same problem here. The resistor trio is the place to start.
