Name this tire! (and help solve a crime)
On new year's eve, someone drove through our mailbox, across our driveway, into our yard, got stuck in the snow, pushed themselves out, and drove off. Can you identify these tires? And in case they are original, what car comes with these? This was a front wheel drive car. Drunk driving is not OK. Thanks!

Re: Name this tire! (and help solve a crime)
There are so many different tread patterns on the market today that using the tread pattern to FIND a suspect is nearly impossible. Other evidence will more likely lead to a suspect.
But once you have a suspect, matching the tread pattern will be much easier. |

Re: Name this tire! (and help solve a crime)
Most major city Police Dept's have a computer program that shows tire patterns that can be matched up with tire prints left at a crime scene . Not sure your scenario qualifies as such and not sure how much cooperation you could expect from them on this particular case ? You never know , they might be willing to help ? Good luck and keep us updated !

Re: Name this tire! (and help solve a crime)
I've found that Tire Rack has an extensive array of photos of tire treads and a very good search feature to weed out tires that would not apply to the suspect car features: e.g., ultra-high performance tires and studded winter tires would not apply, etc.)
Some key info missing that would have helped in identifying the vehicle is the tire tread width and the vehicle's track width. It would also whittle down the tire models that are availble in that width. Hope this helps! [UPDATE] I've been looking around and keeping my eye peeled for this tread, but I have not seen that tread pattern since this thread started. It must not be a common tire. The offending tire being fairly worn doesn't help. Sorry.
