could i please get a straight answer from someone. I'm really serious about my motor setup to run high rpms. I want to know what drive train mods, engine mods, computer, and what type of gas I'll have to run. Its not going to be a daily driver so everyday drive ability is not a matter. pleassssssseeeeee help
i already have crower springs, ret, stage2 jun cam so far....took 8 months to buy. |

shouldn't 10k+ already be within reach with that setup?

The only other things to do is have your rev limiter raised and run a higher octane gas. Maybe throw in some higher horsepower axles and rev away. |

Replace the rod bolts and main cap bolts with some ARP ones. You might want to replace the bearings too, that high of a rpm can cause alot of heat on the bearings. But yea 10K is attainable with a b16A b/c of the r/s ratio is I think 1.61 or somehing like that. So with the upgraded fastners and new bearings you should be fine, also does your cams provide power that high? Be sure they do b/c it will be a waste if they don't LOL

its not worth doing cos the power drops off way before that

i heard r/s ratio is 1.74
perfect/ideal being 1.75 thats why they say b16's are probably the most balanced, reliable, revhappy engines made by honda. |

The link below is my reference. But to summarize, the article says that for high RPM horsepower you will need longer connecting rods with short pistons. The piston pin should be as close to the piston ring-pack in order to accomadate longer rods.

Re: how to turn 10,000 plus rpms??????
I can rev to 10k with my daily drive setup, w/skunk2 stage 1 cams, titanium retainers, skunk2 valve springs, type R pistons, Erick's Racing ECU. I don't see any problem to rev your engine, just get the ECU Program without rev limiter and you're done.

Man come on, it's a 7 month old thread.
What's the deal with all these old threads being brought back from the dead lately? |

Re: Re: how to turn 10,000 plus rpms??????
lets see, with your setup that you have already, you can rev to 10k. you would probably make power to about 9500. your motor could handle those revs but wouldnt be necessary to rev it that high. arp rod and main cap bolts with new bearings are a good idea if you plan on staying at those high revs for a prolonged period of time.
also, if you are not on a budget, and you dont drive it everyday you should just rebuild the whole motor and get the most out of it that you can. im talking knife edged crank(very good idea), new rods, high comp pistons, arp rod and main cap bolts, new bearings and seals, fully built head with your cams (you could even go stage 3), springs (i suggest using springs that come from the same manufacturer as the cams), port and polish, valve job, and also throw in some ITB's too. that would make one sick b16. oh and keep it a 1.6 liter and retain your 1.74:1 r/s ratio. how about that for a straight answer
