1994 APV antilock service light on

I have a 1994 Lumina APV with the antilock service light on intermittently. When the light is on the fan for the a/c does not work and the exterior light alarm goes off even when the engine is on. Also, the from brakes partially seize and the van feels like it is trying the start in 3rd gear from a start. This causes engine overheating after a short while. Is it possible to pull the fuse on the ABS to disable the ABS and run the van for a short while until I can have the sensors checked and check codes?

Yes you can disable the abs, but I would say based on the other symptoms you have more than an abs problem.

Re: 1994 APV antilock service light on

UNtil '93 there was a separate fuse for the ABS....in fact, two: one in the fuse panel and identified as such and one near the ABS module under the hood.
AFter that..and with the introduction of SRS (air bags) there has been reconfiguration of the fuse panel and I'm not sure you can unplug from there without unplugging other features...but I remember having been able to disconnect ABS alone from the other fuse ...or by disconnecting the ABS harness...under the hood... in another '94 GM car.
A failed wheel bearing will pop the ABS light but this has no other consequences as those you describe.
Starting in 3rd gear is the "default" mode when shift solenoids are not energized ; verify plug at front of transmission or wou may have a code for quad driver malfunction
www.avigex.ca/xport/dtc56.jpg
or this code DTC36 (this is OBD1 code but may use OBD2 code also; '94 is "OBD1 1/2 and pulling codes is very complicated...). CHeck symptoms here www.avigex.ca/xport/dtc36.jpg (the test harness only is "Pontiac only" chevrolet uses test box J38791 instead..).

ALso..if it starts in 3rd it is probable it will not shift to 4th (OD)...nor enter in TCC mode...

As maxwedge said....il seems you have several problems......sometimes they can have a single cause.... but you did not tell if they came all together at same time....
