2006 Outlander squealing noise
I have a nastly squealing noise coming from the engine. It seems to be coming from the belt. The car now has 60K on it, but the noise happened once in a blue moon back when the car had about 15K on it. It would happen then if it rained, but woudl go away once the car warmed up. It was not very loud at that time. Now it happens most mornings, but if it is nice and warm it does not always occur. THe noise now is super loud. Is it just the belt, or coudl it be more?? WHen I took it in of course it did not make the noise, but my mechanic said that it coudl be the tensioner and not just the belt.

Look at the inside of the belt closely, if you see severe cracks or a shiny glaze it's time for a new belt. It's possible the tensioner may be going out but since you said it doesn't happen on nice days it makes me doubt that.
