Whoa whoa whoa, This forum doesn't generally get this kind of childish bickering people.... Look if you guys wanna give someone shit do it with PM's, but keep it out of the forums, and if you're 15 and just learning about cars, generally it's a good idea to take in all the advice or knowledge from someone who actually knows and has been there, instead of flaming him like an immature little brat. If you're that disapointed in the forums, then fine, leave and be one of the many immature punks who can't take constructive criticism do. Show some respect for the original hot rodders.

Whoa there, dude. If that was directed at me, then you are the one that needs to relax. I'm not flaming anybody, and I'm not bickering. I was simply stating what I heard about the origins of the pony car, and 1g1yy obviously disagrees with me, but so what? Isn't that the point of these forums? To discuss muscle cars? I don't think 1g1yy thinks I'm flaming him, hell, I even conceded that he was right!

Re: r/s or z28

1969 first year the z28 got the 350 motor. 1982 to
1987 305 was the standard. 1988 to 1992 you had the choice of two motors, the 305 and the 350 for the 3rd generation f-body. i hope that clears things up a bit.

From '67 through '69 the only engine available for the Z-28s was the 302. 1970 was the first year for the 350 in the Z-28. Anyone who knows anything about Z-28s knows this!

Sorry, you are wrong again (not that it really matters). The SS option is what you meant. The RS option was basically an appearance package with hideaway headlights, etc.

My best friend owned two '69 Z-28s, both RS's. The RS package didn't really add that much weight -- but it did improve the looks of the car. Z-28s were not drag strip terrors -- most ran in the low 14s at about 101 or 102 mph. And that was with headers, recurved distributor, etc. My friend said his first Z-28 ran in the high 13s. I never saw it run at the strip, but I did go with him several times when he ran the second one he owned, and it never broke into the 13s. They were great road race cars, though -- at the time.
