More Troubles From TAHOE....plz help
Hello & Good Morning All,
I am new to this forum and all forums. I know very little about the wonderful world under the hood but with every broken down vehicle I learn a little more. I recently had to lay Betsy my 97' Chevy express 1500 5.7 Van to rest I swore I wouldn't let her go & that I was gonna replace that trans but then "Rita" my 99' (well 98/8) Chevy Tahoe 4 door, 2wd, 1500, 5.7L, V8, came into my life and she needed a lot of work, [passenger side lower ball joint replace, new plugs, new battery, steering column, rear window replacement<still need.] Then no spark, so I pulled Betsy's distributor and passed it on down to Rita, now i got spark but she won't start. So here's a quick background on Rita... (to the best of my knowledge) She sat for up to 4 years maybe even more but I'm unsure if there was periodic start-ups during any of that time or even a working battery. There is some mold on the inside but very very little and it's just on some of the oh-shit handles and knobs nothing excessive the interior as a whole is in decent shape which is somewhat surprising to me due to the broken out rear window, but I really know very little about this vehicles past its quite the guessing game. Now I'm wondering what my next move should be as far as getting her started, I NEED this SUV to run and kinda need it to run today, my dough is low and stress has become my first name! When I turn it to on/accessory position the security light is on solid. I have the old column but the ignition is drilled out and obviously there's no key, I have the new column (installed) & key. There wasn't much gas in her when she came to me, but I siphoned what I could out and added about 7 gallons fresh gas. I haven't added any heet or any other additives, I don't get any codes - someone mentioned that the codes could have been erased.....is that true? They said that the last time it was hooked up the codes that displayed could have been erased by the user and won't read again until the vehicle starts and idles? I'm torn by that statement I feel that there could be some truth to it and I also feel like it could be a completely fabricated pile of donkey dung! Ok so another worry is that I may need to pull the spider injectors and possibly soak them in sea-foam or Barryman's or similar. Sorry if my thoughts are all over the place and a lil' long winded but I've ate drank and slept nothing but Tahoe for a while now and my world around me is starting to implode, some one please tell me something good! (>Something else to check >Security Bypass Method/Steps (I think it's passlock3-but YOU might know better)>Well kept secret in your mechanically inclined family passed down only to those worthy I'M WORTHY I'M WORTHY!!! I'm ready, I'm a sponge & I Thirst for knowledge!!! Lol... Thank you so much in advance for any help, guidance, mentoring, correcting etc..... that is offered. OPERATION: Let's get Rita Rock'n & Rollin' on the Roadways!!! Last edited by Stealthee; 10-29-2018 at 06:23 PM. |

Ok, it cranks but won't fire, correct. Do you hear the fuel pump prime, will it fire if you squirt carb cleaner into the intake/ throttle body? Are you sure you got the dist back in exactly where the old one was, rotor timed the same?
