Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

Some people who have been here a while, will allready know these details, but as F1 crashes/accidents go this was a very early one.

They'll arrive before Santa Claus.

= = =

I was a little frustrated by the blurring of that front plate so I've attempted a fix using the plate cover that was on the car in Macau. Not perfect, but better I think.

Nice shot, the earlier two even more. Wish we had those in higher res.
I have a feeling we'll be seeing more from Hong Kong. I mean, with the people density, and the fact that apparently it has been out(side)

This is pretty exciting - a new photo of #021 has been uploaded to Flickr.

The caption included with it is a bit of a fib though:

Legend - Mclaren F1
Was visiting Australia and found this Mclaren F1. i will not give out further information on the location. My friend and I sat in this beauty, it was amazing experience. the car was being used as a table to store a car blanket. doesn't look it in the photo however the car was so dirty. when we saw the car at first we sort of ignored thinking it was a 458 or a 360 and then we both looked at eachother and went MCLAREN F1! haha amazing day !
Funny - the last time photos of this car appeared on Flickr the photographer stated the car was in Malaysia.

Seems no one can ever get the story straight with this car as it is most definitely still in Singapore. I've asked the photographer if he can share any more photos without letting on that anything is amiss with his description. Hopefully he will come through - I'd love to get a shot of the interior in this car as that's something I haven't seen yet.

Not that I am doubting you, but how do you know this is #21? Couldn't it (theoretically) be another car that perhaps is in Australia? Just curious.

Great find though!

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

It's fine to cast doubt and ask questions - we've actually learned things before here by getting input from someone with a different perspective.

In the past I've received other photos of the car which I'm unfortunately not able to share that show it in the exact same room - same tile floor, same markings on the floor, same pair of red stripes running around the walls. If you refer to the bottom of post #1 of this thread you'll find a pair of tightly cropped shots of this car which show some of those details.

As for the chassis number of this red car in SG, it was finally confirmed through two separate sources.

I'm usually pretty clear with my words when something is only an assumption or theory, but I am positive in this case.

Re: Recap of 'Rest of the World' F1 Fleet

For more convincing evidence, Google found these older images of the Malayan Motors service area on a Singapore message forum. While you won't find an F1 hiding in any of these shots, you will spot several details in these photos that match up with the new red F1 photo - same tile floor and markings, same blue 4-post lifts, same red stripes on the wall again.

One more thing - Malayan is Singapore's Bentley and Land Rover dealer which are the other two brands of car visible in the new photo.

I hope I didnt come across as sarcastic as that certainatly was not my intention . I regard very highly your opinion and knowledge, hence why I asked

Thanks for the extra photos though, thought that maybe someone knew where that workshop was.

One more question: does this one ever get driven or is it a garage queen?

Not at all - we cool. While some of us do tend to have more to say from time to time (/) everyone is on equal footing here as far as I'm concerned. As long as it's relevant, no question is going to upset the flow of info. Typically they only serve to increase it.

I don't think this car has moved more than 100 yards in the past decade or more. It is my understanding that it has been there a very long time. It used to be parked outside under an overhang with the McLaren car cover fitted over it and there was at least one XJ220 there with it. When I first heard of them it had already been sitting there for several years. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we are looking at another F1 with like 300 kms on the odometer.

And another likely inferno if it was used without a total and complete fuel line injection pump rebuild.

And further confirmation of the chassis number is in the comments:

"its the only blood red solid in the world"

For the pedantics among us, technically 10R is also Blood Red.

No confirmation just yet, at least from his side. I told him about the chassis number...

Ahh - well tell him where to look, and then tell him to point his camera at it, and then tell him to press the shutter release.
